1. Chapter 22 (CB):
This chapter is the main one that describes Peter and Kit's journey to save the queen. They try not to be to visible, but one time, they stop at an INN called the Wool Pack to rest for that night. During the evening, a group of men come into the bar and drink as they enjoy their evening. The only problem is that soon after Peter and Kit left the next day, they se those men blocking their way and threatening to take their money and throw them into a very deep pit on the side of the road. Peter and Kit try to get out by force, but the men are obviously much stronger than they are, so they try to get out by being clever, but there are to many of them. finally, kit manages to get a bit farther away from them while peter is still trapped. they manage to get out of the men's grasp thanks to Kit, but soon enough they discover that they are being followed by Sir Philip...
2. Chapter 23 (MN ):
Cue for Treason: Chapter 23
“ Terrible with Banners” In the previous chapters, Kit and Peter had escaped Sir Philip’s wrath and were now heading towards London, in order to warn the Queen for her assassination. However, they were met by several dilemmas. First of all, the road they were travelling on was commonly used, and the probability of being discovered was relatively high. Finally, Peter and Kit did not possess enough money to properly nourish two adolescents and two horses for long periods of time. Despite this discouraging fact, Peter and Kit decided to travel by the country roads, in order to avoid being noticed.
After several days, Kit and Peter stumbled upon an isolated inn, situated deep within the northern region of England. They were welcomed by the owners of the inn, and their horses were stationed in the stables. Kit and Peter were well nourished, and the next morning prepared to depart. They asked the owners to direct them to the nearest town, and soon after continued their journey. What they had not realised, however, was that their valuable horses had been noticed, particularly a miner surnamed red-beard. As they passed the mine known as “Virgin Mine”(which they had been heeded to avoid), the miner and several of his partners ambushed the travellers. They stole the horses, and were debating whether or not to push Kit and Peter into a hole, which would result in their deaths. As they were about to complete their mission, Sir Philip and his army thundered towards them! The thieves scrambled upon the horses, and fled. Sir Philip chased after them, mistakenly believing that they were the children.
Kit and Peter safely escaped and hid into a forest, where they miraculously met Mr. Desmond and the remaining actors in their humble acting company! They confessed their dilemmas to the couple, who in turn devised a brilliant plan: they were to take advantage of the fact that they were an assembled group of talented actors, who were armed with artificial weapons, banners and instruments. In other words, they were to pretend that Kit and Peter were the captives of the Queen’s army (Mr. Desmond’s acting company).When Sir Philip arrived, Kit and Peter pretended to be struggling against invisible ropes. In the distance, drums were pulsing loudly. Mr. Desmond and several actors appeared to be armed with lethal weapons; they were in possession of spears, pistols, daggers and clubs. They were quite intimidating, since Sir Philip immediately altered his tone when he perceived how immense their army appeared to be. He asked if they had seen two boys, but then he noticed Kit and Pete within the shadows. He was delighted, and proceeded towards them, when Desmond stopped him. He informed Sir Philip that the boys were protected by the Queen’s personal army, and then proceeded to confront Sir Philip about the ongoing rebellion against the Queen. Naturally, Sir Philip denied any involvement. Soon afterwards, he realised that Kit, who was supposed to have married Sir Philip, was indeed the boy staring up at him. At that moment, both armies attacked, and the result left Sir Philip captured and bound. Kit confessed to the Desmond’s that she was a female. This, of course, provoked some gossip. This was interrupted when Kit abruptly announced that Peter and she had to depart. They informed the Desmond’s of their destinations, and they were met by shock. They were told that the date of the performance ( where the Queen would be assassinated) had been rescheduled to an earlier one, precisely two days earlier. They realised that they would never arrive in time to prevent the murder of The Queen.
Chapter 24-25 (AD ):
Summary of chapter 24 - "A cue missed" - Alexandra Dupont 7b
In this chapter the characters are in the Whitehall palace and everything is being set up for the play. Mr. Burbage narrates through chapter 24, where he meets the queen and describes as very regal. John Somers misses his cue to kill the queen because he is stopped by two guards brought by Kit and Peter.
Summary of chapter 25 - "After the play" - Alexandra Dupont 7b
In this chapter Peter begins to narrate again. Burbage, Peter, Kit and Shakespeare meet the queen. She thanks them for saving her life and she takes guardianship of Kit for two years and the Kit marries Peter.
